Do you want to get your hands dirty?

This project is multifaceted and volunteers can be based at the organic farm in the morning, but can choose to work at other community projects in the afternoons.

Volunteer

Caring for the Cape Community takes organic farming to the next level. Volunteers will be taught how to do basic organic farming and have the opportunity to apply what they have learnt into the surrounding community, as well as teach other skills they might have to the community members.

Organic African Farm, a small holding within the city, does not only have its own organic farming program, but it has also shaped itself as a base camp for community development in many of the township areas. Organic African Farm offers a space where volunteers can get to practice organic farming in South Africa, whilst at the same time getting to know the people that work at the farm, getting an insight into the local cultures, happenings and development in Africa, as they share their stories and skills.
Organic African Farm has hosted many youth workshops, NGO`s, volunteers, visitors and individuals, all of whom go away with a wholesome experience. Many have put into practice what they have learnt, in their homes & communities, and have been inspired to do good work out there. We offer a real experience, working at ground level, with people who know what is happening in Cape Town culturally, musically and developmentally.

Ubuntu comes from an advanced consciousness / society. Africa has this gift to offer you. It is important to be honoring and respectful of every culture, then the best comes back to you. Each volunteer brings their own uniqueness, so sharing oneself and the skills that you bring are the best that one can offer. This is the best and most sustainable way to make a meaningful difference in people`s lives. We believe in a hand up, rather than a hand out approach, so volunteers are encouraged to support local arts, and crafts, and industry, as a way of stimulating local economy and providing sustainable income for people.
